Bruce Eaton

The first picture shows my first marquetry picture which I produced when I was 13 yrs old and helped by my Uncle ( Leslie Hastie ) living in Seacroft. He may well have been a member of the Group then, but I am not sure. The second picture is that of a large picture which he produced, initially for a fire screen. When he died in 1958 he left me all his veneers along with a picture of Fountains Abbey which he was just about to start.
During my retirement I decided I would have a go and continue his work. After discovering the Leeds Group on the internet, I joined as a Country Member ( living in Middlesbrough ) and completed a beginners class. I found the techniques very different from what I could remember from the past. After completing a number of fairly simple pictures I went on to eventually produce the picture of Fountains Abbey ( shown as the third picture here. )
Some of my earlier pictures along with some more recent ones are then shown.
Marquetry I find is a very satisfying hobby especially in the winter months.
